Every engineering student dreams of that elusive 9.0+ GPA. But aiming high without a plan is just a wish. You don't need to be a genius; you just need to understand the "leverage" in the grading system.
The "Hydraulic" Effect
Think of grades as a hydraulic press. If you push hard on the small piston (Internal Marks), you lift the heavy weight (Final Grade) with ease. If you slack on internals, you have to lift the entire weight during the end-semester exam.
The Math of Survival
To get an 'O' Grade (90+ marks):
- Scenario A (Lazy Internals): Score 30/40. You now need 60/60 in the exam. (Difficulty: Impossible)
- Scenario B (Smart Internals): Score 38/40. You now need only 52/60 in the exam. (Difficulty: Moderate)
Two marks here saves you ten marks there. That is the leverage.
Strategy: Front-Load Your Effort
- Crush CAT 1 & 2: The syllabus is small (2 units). It is infinitely easier to score full marks here than in the full-syllabus final exam.
- Assignments are Free: Never, ever lose assignment marks. They are free points.
Using the Dream GPA Tool
We built the Dream GPA feature for this exact reason. It uses a reverse-calculation algorithm.
